The Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and build core systems underpinning a sophisticated, multi-component platform.

The platform supports complex workflows and includes a combination of backend services, APIs, and integrations with external systems. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to develop new functionality, improve system performance, and ensure reliability at scale.

This role suits someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working on distributed systems, and takes a pragmatic approach to building high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems and services
• Own projects end-to-end, from design through to production
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
• Build scalable, maintainable, and well-structured systems
• Ensure high reliability and performance in production environments

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience working in fast-paced or scaling environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams
• Ability to take ownership and drive projects independently
• Focus on building clean, maintainable, and efficient systems
• High attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility for production systems

Nice to Have

• Experience with Go (or similar backend languages)
• Familiarity with cloud environments and containerised systems
• Experience building distributed systems and working with asynchronous architectures
• Exposure to complex, high-throughput or low-latency systems
• Background in financial services or similarly complex domains
